Harbor views + Native gardens

Jamestown, RI

A wonderful opportunity to design a house for a colleague; an architect and her partner. Located on a narrow lot with expansive views of Dutch Harbor, the size and location of this house were limited by the Rhode Island Coastal Resource Management Council. Sunlight moves throughout the house year-round. The large glass doors provide views from and through the house, opening up to a stone patio in the back yard and an ipe deck in the front of the home.

The plant material is predominantly native and complimentary to the surrounding coastal landscape. The neutral interior materials and color palette intentionally do not compete with the landscape and water views.

This small, modern, 2000 square foot house has a green roof to control run-off. The dark grey siding and trim blend into the landscape; limiting the impact on views from the harbor.
